MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Former President Jimmy Carter and his wife are in Memphis to build a Habitat for Humanity home.

Country music stars Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks are also on the same job site.

Carter, who is battling cancer, was originally scheduled to volunteer during a week-long build in Nepal this week, but that  trip was cancelled because of supply shortages and civil unrest in the region.

Habitat for Humanity builds affordable homes for low-income families.

The current build is taking place in the Uptown area.
