Driver in Highway 64 crash charged with DUI

MEMPHIS, Tenn. –One person was arrested and charged with a DUI after a horrific crash Friday night.

The two-car accident happened near Highway 64 and Kate Hyde Boulevard.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, it all began when a car ran a red light at Highway 64 and I-40.

A patrol officer saw the traffic violation and followed the suspect westbound.

Once they reached Kate Hyde Boulevard, the suspect crashed into another vehicle.

The suspect then jumped out of the wreckage and took off running.

He was easily taken into custody.

The two victims hit were temporarily trapped inside their vehicle, and then rushed to a local hospital.

Their conditions have not been released.

Other charges could be filed in this case.
