MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken announced on Facebook Wednesday it will go nationwide in 2015.

New restaurants will be opened in Atlanta, Georgia; St. Louis, Missouri; Los Angeles, California; Fort Worth, Texas; Knoxville, Tennessee; Kansas City, Kansas; Chicago, Illinois; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Facebook post also said more locations will be announced later, but they “have to take it slow to ensure you get the same quality and experience you have come to expect from Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken!”

Napoleon “Na” and Maggie Bonner opened Maggie’s Short Orders in Mason, Tennessee, in the early 1950s. The eatery quickly became known for its fried chicken, and the couple moved the restaurant to another location in 1973.

After they passed away, their son Vernon and his wife Gertrude opened the first Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken, using Na’s same beloved recipe. Click here to learn more about the restaurant’s history.
