Family of Five Escapes Burning Home

(Memphis)  A family of five in Oakhaven is safe after escaping from their burning home overnight.

The fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the 3300 block of Burgess Dr. — which is near Shelby Dr. and Tchulahoma Rd.

Firefighters say all five family members got out safely before they arrived on the scene.

The fire caused extensive damage to their home and even caused some damage to one of the houses next door.

The family is now receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
