MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The smiling faces behind the counter of the Dollar General store on Quince Road are like family to Louis Bomar.

“They are very, very good people. Very good people.”

Which is why this longtime customer was horrified to find the whole place wrapped in yellow crime tape Wednesday morning and a bunch of cop cars parked outside.

“We`ve been here for three, four, maybe five years. This has never happened before.”

Police took a man into custody. They said he tried to rob the place around 7:30 a.m. armed with a knife before leading them on a brief chase. That chase ended not too far away in a nearby subdivision.

Thankfully, no one was hurt.

“Money can always be replaced, merchandise can be replaced, a life cannot be replaced.”
