East Memphis apartment fire was intentionally set, officials say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Fire Department has confirmed that an overnight fire in East Memphis was intentionally set.

According to the agency the fire was started in the entrance/stairway area of the Sherwood Manor Apartments on Rhodes Avenue just before 1 a.m. Friday, August 30.

Four units sustained smoke, water and fire damage, but thankfully no one was injured.
