MEMPHIS, Tenn. — “I’m in North Carolina, come get me,” a suspect wrote on his wanted picture posted on the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

And get him they did.

The Sheriff’s Office said Jonathan Mercer is in custody in North Carolina waiting to be sent back to Tennessee after he revealed his location through taunts on social media.

On its Facebook page Wednesday, the SCSO fugitive division posted 50 photos of individuals wanted on domestic violence charges.

One of those, Mercer, was wanted for harassing and threatening his estranged wife, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He has seven active warrants in Shelby County on harassment, domestic assault and theft of property charges.

Mercer gave deputies a bit of help by posting the comment on the Facebook photo of him. Deputies found his address and worked with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina to track him down.
