MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Cameras caught the chilling moment when a car slammed into the front of Gibson's Donuts Friday morning.
A father and son just walked into the store. Seconds later, the car came plowing through. The father grabs his son tightly.
"It sounded like a bomb went off," said co-owner and manager Britton DeWeese.
You can see from other cameras employees and customers scrambled behind the counter.
DeWeese said it was a complete accident. An elderly customer meant to hit the brakes, but hit the gas instead.
His vehicle cracked a brick pillar, shattered glass and sent furniture flying.
Employees eventually set up a table next to the caution tape and continued to sell donuts. Their donuts were served on a ladder instead of a counter.
Customers didn't mind.
The windows are now up, and the donut shop is back open.
