MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Big 12 made a surprising announcement Tuesday that could have a big impact on the University of Memphis.

The consensus out of the Big 12 meeting in Dallas is expansion will happen soon rather than later.

Memphis is competing with a number of schools to join the Big 12, but thinks it has an advantage with a promise by FedEx to be financially involved in expansion talks.
