OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — A 10-month-old baby was severely burned after being left alone inside a small apartment that caught on fire on Keely Cove in Olive Branch around 4 p.m. Monday, police said.

The baby was taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital but will possibly be flown to the burn center at University of Cincinnati Medical Center, police said.

Police originally referred to the building as a shed, but WREG learned it’s actually a small apartment attached to a house.

The baby’s uncle told WREG his brother wasn’t home at the time and his sister-in-law had just stepped outside for a minute when the baby was taking a nap. That’s when the fire started.

No one has been charged at this point.

WREG is working to learn more information.
