25 Dead After Tornadoes in AR, MS and TN

(Memphis)  The death toll from Sunday and Monday’s tornado outbreak in Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi climbed to 25 overnight.

There are now 15 confirmed deaths in Arkansas. 10 of those were in the Mayflower and Vilonia areas hit hard by an EF3 tornado on Sunday.

In Mississippi, eight people are now confirmed dead, including several in the Louisville area.

One of those deaths was reported in Lee County near Tupelo. Lee County’s coroner says the victim was driving near Verona and either hydroplaned or was blown off the road.

Tupelo suffered extensive damage from an EF2 tornado that moved through the northern part of the city Monday afternoon.

Survey teams from the National Weather Service will be back out in Tupelo today to further examine the tornado’s path.

In Tennessee, two people died Monday evening after a tornado moved through Lincoln County, which is near the Alabama border north of Huntsville.
