It’s no secret — Memphis is a hot spot for barbecue. Two local favorites got top marks in USA Today‘s latest look at the best barbecue restaurants across the nation.

Central BBQ in Memphis, Tennessee, and Memphis Barbecue Co. in Horn Lake, Mississippi, both got the “OMG!” rating.

USA Today said Central BBQ is “maybe the best barbecue eatery in Memphis,” with plenty of delicious options to choose from — most notably, its ribs, homemade pork rinds and potato chips, barbecue nachos and smoked wings.

Memphis Barbecue Co. also has great barbecue options — like barbecue spaghetti, pulled pork and smoked meat sampler platters — but it doesn’t stop there. The signature dish of award-winning chef Melissa Cookston is “delicious and addictive” cheese fritters.

The other OMG!-rated restaurants are Joe’s Kansas City BBQ (formerly Oklahoma Joe’s) in Kansas City, Kansas; Dreamland Bar-B-Que in Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Bryan’s Black Mountain Barbecue in Cave Creek, Arizona; Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew in Austin, Texas; Rib-It-Up in Birmingham, Alabama; and Hot Rods BBQ in Wharton, New Jersey.

Memphis also put two spots on the “Yum!” list of restaurants with the second-best rating: Cozy Corner and The Bar-B-Q Shop.
