MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men were arrested following a crash that killed one of the passengers.

The crash happened at Austin Peay and Coleman Road on Friday night.

A Chevrolet was going southbound on Austin Peay when it hit the side of another vehicle, a Buick, that was on the northbound side and trying to turn onto Coleman Road.

The driver of the Chevrolet, William Lapradd, 26, told police he ran a red light before hitting the Buick.

A passenger in the Buick, Aries Brooks, 22, went to the hospital in extremely critical condition but later died.

The Buick’s driver, Erby J. Johnson, 29, was also transported to the hospital, but he was not in critical condition. Police found him to be driving under the influence.

Lapradd was charged with reckless vehicular homicide, disregarding a red light and state registration. Johnson was charged with DUI, driving while license suspended/revoked/canceled, state registration, financial responsibility and public intoxication.
