15-year-old found shot to death in Coahoma County

JONESTOWN, Miss. — Deputies are investigating after a 15-year-old was fatally shot in Jonestown.

The boy, identified as Jaylon Campbell, was already dead when deputies found him Sunday inside a residence in the 200 block of Coldwater River Road, according to the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Campbell was 15 years old and from Cleveland, Mississippi, the sheriff’s office said.

Zakeyrris Mitchell, 14, of Jonestown was charged with manslaughter-culpable negligence. He has a $2,500 bond.

Darnell Dye of Jonestown was charged with tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Dye does not yet have a bond.

The Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office is still working to investigate the death.
