MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A southeast Memphis neighborhood is grieving and after a double shooting left one man dead and another hospitalized Sunday.

Police were called just after noon to the 4700 block of Barkshire Drive near Shelby Drive, where they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds in the front passenger seat of a car. Police later identified the victim as Dominick Hull.

Two more gunshot victims later showed up by private vehicle at Methodist Germantown. One was airlifted to Regional One in critical condition.

Melik Bell, 18, is charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in the shooting.

One of the victims who survived the shooting told police he and the other victims were driving to a friend’s house on Barkshire when they saw Bell standing in his front yard. He said Bell flagged them down, asked to buy some marijuana, then pulled out a handgun and said “give it all to me.”

The victim said Bell immediately started firing into the car, killing Hull and injuring the other two people.

At one point Sunday more than 40 people gathered outside the crime scene.
