Since she was a little girl, Nina Harrelson always knew she wanted to be in front of the camera.

She’s a self-proclaimed musical theater nerd – appearing in many community theater and school productions throughout her life – but her passion for news and natural curiosity led her to this career.

Nina joined WREG as the Daybreak Weekend Anchor/Reporter in November 2016, and even though she’s lived all over the country, Memphis is her favorite city so far!

She was the co-editor of her college newspaper, ‘The Sabre,’ at Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wis., and a news reporting intern at CBS58 in Milwaukee, Wis., where she got her first taste of TV news, covering court cases and crimes.

Before coming to the Mid-South, Nina worked CBS19 in Tyler, TX, wearing several different hats during her more than two years there. She began as Weekend Evening Anchor/Reporter, before being promoted to 5 p.m. Anchor/Producer, and then eventually to 10 p.m. Anchor/Co-Producer.

She began her TV news career in 2011 at NTV in Kearney, Neb., getting her foot in the door as the Executive Producer of Digital Media/MMJ, and before long, was promoted to Weekend Evening Anchor/MMJ.

Nina was born in Des Plaines, Ill., just outside Chicago, graduated from Marshall County Central High in Newfolden, Minn., and then attended Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wis., where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism/Public Relations.

Besides Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Texas, she’s also lived in Florida, North Carolina, Arizona and Hawaii.

Nina lives with her fiancé, 14-year-old daughter and adorable Maltese, Dexter. When she’s not chasing a story, you can find her outdoors, camping, singing karaoke, watching horror movies or trying new foods.

She would love to hear from you! If you have a story idea, email her at or find her on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram @NinaHarrelsonTV.
