Man found shot dead in Raleigh neighborhood

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was shot and killed in a Raleigh neighborhood around 5:20 Monday morning in the 2800 block of East Hickory Bluff in Raleigh.

Neighbors said the victim just moved into the neighborhood and had hosted a child's birthday party over the weekend.

Sherita Miller said police were pounding on her door around 5:15 in the morning. When she got up and peeked outside, she saw flashing blue lights, crime scene tape and her neighbor of just a few months lying motionless in his front yard.

"I was very afraid and hoping that it wasn't him. But, it was just fear and panic to see that," she said.

Other neighbors describe someone emptying their gun, firing upwards of 10 rounds.

Shortly after the shooting, Miller says police were knocking, looking to help the victim's girlfriend find refuge inside Miller's home.

So far, the victim has not been officially identified and police were working to find the gunman and figure out a motive.
