Man hospitalized after shooting in Frayser

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after a shooting Wednesday night in Frayser.

Memphis police responded to a shooting call at 2241 Pamela at 9:15 p.m. They found one victim who was rushed to the Regional Medical Center.

According to the victim's girlfriend, the couple had just loaded her children into a silver vehicle car when someone walked up and opened fire. She and the boyfriend reportedly jumped out of the car and that's when he was shot in the face.

The children were not hurt.

She didn't say what led up to the shooting, but neighbors said the shooting was the result of some sort of ongoing disagreement.

At least three vehicles at the home had more than 20 bullet holes in them. Two other cars in the neighbor's driveway were also hit along with the neighbor's home.

That next-door neighbor was not hurt.

“My momma was coming out of her room. I was like 'those were some bullets', and she said 'no, those are some firecrackers'. I said 'no, those are bullets momma.' So, we're just all three, me, her and my nephew standing in the hallway waiting until it stopped,” the neighbor said.

She said she believes that the shooters were targeting the home next door.

Police did not release a description of the suspect.

Tamara Ray says she lucky no one was hurt when bullets hit her house. Three bullets through a front window and one through the front door.

She believes the shooters were aiming for the house next to hers, where we counted more than 20 bullet holes in three different vehicles.

"This is scary. You see this kind of thing happen on the news and here happens right at your home," she said.
