Connecticut man gets 18 years for trying to lure Tennessee teen

Andrew Cunningham

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A Connecticut man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for trying to lure a 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity.

Andrew Cunningham, of Windsor, was arrested in 2017 for messaging with a Tennessee teenager on a chat app.

Investigators say the 39-year-old Cunningham at first told the girl he was 17, enticed her to send sexually explicit images of herself and tried to arrange for her to come to Hartford to have sex with him.

Cunningham was already registered as a sex offender and on probation after a 2014 conviction for traveling to Illinois from Connecticut and having sexual contact with a female minor.

Cunningham has been in custody since his latest arrest.

He was also sentenced in federal court on Thursday to 10 years of probation.
