Police: Woman pistol-whipped at North Memphis gas station

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police said a woman was pistol-whipped Saturday morning in the parking lot of a gas station in North Memphis.

Investigators were on the scene at the Valero station on Chelsea Avenue around 9:30 a.m.

Police originally said the woman had been shot and taken to a hospital in critical condition, but hours later, they said she had only been hit with the pistol and was going to be OK.

Police haven’t released a description of the suspect, but said he or she is a “known acquaintance” of the victim.
