Police name suspect in West Memphis Walmart shooting

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — Police are looking for an armed man on the run after a shooting inside a West Memphis Walmart store left one person injured.

One person was shot in the leg Thursday morning at the Walmart on West Service Road, but the injury was not life-threatening.

Police said the shooting happened in the electronics department, where the suspect shot this victim at least two times. The suspect then fled the scene in a dark vehicle.

West Memphis Police identified the suspect as Jimmy Franklin Do. He is from Lake Commorant, Mississippi, and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

The victim was taken to Regional One and has since been released. Police said Do and the victim likely knew each other and had a previous conflict.

Though police said this was an isolated incident and does not involve Walmart or customers, the shooting is still leaving customers at the Walmart uneasy.

"I'm just dumbfounded; I really am," customer Connie Hazly said. "I just can't believe somebody would open fire in a store where other people are shopping."

She said she visits this Walmart at least once a week, and the fact that a customer or workers could have been killed is unsettling for her.

"It makes you think twice about shopping," Hazly said. "It's crazy. You're just not safe anywhere."

Police have issued warrants for first degree battery and aggravated assault.
