Memphis police investigating city’s first homicide of 2019

MEMPHIS, Tenn. —  The city’s first homicide case came on New Year’s morning as Memphis police were called to the scene of a shooting in Raleigh.

It happened in the 3500 block of Russelwood Drive. Police reported they were on the scene at 8:45 a.m.

One male victim was located and pronounced dead.

Police confirmed that they are investigating this case as a homicide.

A woman at the house where the crime occurred said they don’t know the person who was shot. She said people in the house heard several gunshots Monday night.

A neighbor said that it was another neighbor who saw the body Tuesday morning and called police. There is a blood stain visible on the grass.
