Driver hospitalized after school bus hit on South Third

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Shelby County Schools bus driver was taken to a hospital after a wreck around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon at South Third and Mitchell, but no children were reported hurt.

Two other drivers were also hurt, but police said none of the injuries were critical.

The 52 children on the bus said they were coming from Ford Road Elementary. All were checked by paramedics and released.

Police, quoting witnesses, said a tow truck ran a red light, striking a truck, causing a Cadillac SUV to hit the bus.

The driver of the tow truck was issued a citation by police.
