CRITTENDEN COUNTY, Ark. — People living in the small town of Edmonson say they are saddened by the passing of a man found shot to death in a car.
It happened on Minnis Drive around 5 p.m. Sunday across the street from a church.
Friends, family and neighbors all watched as the victim's body was pulled out of a car sitting in a driveway. They shared hugs and tears as they mourned the loss of who they identify as Shawn Watkins.
They say he was a father and friend. And this was just a senseless dispute over a woman.
"I'm just heartbroken, because you don't want to see life lost anywhere," Mayor Ira Ewing said.
Police could be seen counting at least eight bullet holes. Many of them sat plastered on the side of the silver car.
Family and friends told us the victim's car was found with the engine still running in the driveway of the potential suspect's home.
The Crittenden County Sheriff's Department says they are looking for Calvin D. Taylor. He's wanted for questioning regarding the homicide.
Acting Mayor Ira Ewing says this doesn't reflect the town of Edmonson.
"It's not a gun problem. Guns can't do anything. It's the person with the gun," he said.
It's a small tight-knit community.
We're still working to learn more information from Crittenden County deputies about what happened and why.
