MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police were on the scene of a possible homicide after a body was discovered Monday morning.

Police were called to the corner of Deadrick and David in Orange Mound around 9:30 a.m.

There was no word on how the person died, but detectives were at the scene collecting evidence all morning.

WREG crews watched officers use metal detectors to scour the yard and nearby bushes while they questioned witnesses and put a man in the back of a squad car.

Jeremy Chaffin felt sick to his stomach. He said his best friend lives in the home and, right now, can only guess what happened.

"My brother stay over there too. I guess some kind of fight over there, and this is the end result of it," he said.

The body was taken to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy. No word on how long that could take.
