MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman was shot and killed in North Memphis Sunday afternoon.

Officers responded to the shooting in the 1400 block of Decatur Street around 2:30 p.m.

The victim was taken to Regional Medical Center but died shortly after, police said. She has not yet been identified.

"Wow. It's just out of hand, everybody got guns," said a man who lives a few doors away from the woman was killed.

He said he heard around a dozen shots and took cover.

"I hit the kitchen floor and remained in the house until it stopped, then I come outside."

Neighbors say for the most part it's a quiet street full of older people and retirees, but they say there has been trouble here before and they are tired of the violence that seems to be around them.

"Not only on this street, but the city of Memphis and throughout the country," the neighbor said.

There is no information on who the shooter was. Police are investigating.
