Police: 18 year old accidentally shoots younger brother

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- An 18-year-old who is currently being detained told police the shooting was an accident.

Police say an 18-year-old accidentally shot his 16-year-old brother just before 11 Friday morning.

Paramedics say the 16-year-old was in critical condition when they rushed him to the hospital.

Officers took the older brother into custody for questioning.

Investigators collected evidenceĀ and spoke to witnesses to piece together what led up to the shooting.

Neighbors say a lot of kids live in this area. They're worried it may be someone they know.

Officers haven't released any names and haven't said if any charges will be filed.

Neighbors watched police pack up. Just hoping the teen pulls through.
