OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. -- Dozens of guns are now in the wrong hands after they were stolen from a sports store in Olive Branch.

"All of the guns except for about three or four were handguns, and we also had two AR-15s and a couple shotguns taken also. Along with ammunition."

Olive Branch Police Chief Don Gammage told WREG it all started when a delivery driver stopped at the Academy Sports store off Goodman Road around 10 p.m. Sunday.

The store was closed for the night, so the driver settled in and went to sleep in the big rig.

As employees started to unload the truck several hours later, they noticed a major problem -- 67 guns were missing.

"It is pretty bold. To take some bolt cutters out and cut the seal and locks, and actually go in and steal weapons like that," said Chief Gammage.

A spokesperson with Academy Sports said the company takes the crime seriously and is working with authorities as they investigate.

Olive Branch police are now reviewing surveillance footage and working with other agencies including ATF to make sure whoever is responsible is held accountable.
