MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Three children were injured after they were struck by a woman in a light blue Nissan near Ridgeway Road and Ridgeway Boulevard Monday morning while on the way to school.

"Every morning we be praying and hoping don`t nothing happen to our children," said Chearle Sanders, a crossing guard.

Sanders wasn't at work this morning, but said she's not surprised by the types of drivers she encounters.

"They do not obey us or don`t slow down in the school zone or nothing. They just keep on going."

That's what police said the woman in this morning's crash did -- kept going, even as those three kids were loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital to be checked out.

They were merely a block from Hickory Ridge Middle School.

"They need to get more parents on patrol, or get more lights or something out there, or we need school crossing to come back everywhere."

All three students are expected to be okay.
