Truck driver charged after shots are fired during robbery at Memphis Home Depot

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A truck driver was injured when shots were fired outside a Memphis hardware store.

It happened early Friday morning in the back of the Home Depot at 4950 Stage Road.

The driver told police he was asleep in the cab of his truck when he felt it moving.a man approached and shots were fired.

The man saw three men stealing items from the truck.

The driver yelled at the men to leave and fired several shots into the air.

The men ran and the driver called the police.

As he was on the phone, one of the suspects demanded the keys to a car that had been left behind.

When the driver said he did not have the keys, the suspect fired several shots into the cab of the truck.

The driver was injured by shattered glass, but was not shot.

The truck driver, who had a gun permit, was issued a citation for firing a gun within city limits.

No one is in custody.
