MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- An off-duty Memphis Police Officer was hit and killed near Methodist North Hospital early Tuesday morning.
Chester Anderson was crossing New Covington Pike around 6:06 a.m. when he was hit.
All lanes of New Covington Pike were closed at Singleton Parkway when the accident happened.
Police say the driver of a pick-up truck stayed on the scene and will not face charges.
Anderson, who was 50, began his career with the Memphis Police Department on August 10, 1998 and was assigned to Crump Station.
