Man dead following South Memphis shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The man critically injured following a shooting on Lucy Avenue early Monday morning has died.

Police say the victim was shot in the back around 3:15 a.m. Monday.

The victim was taken to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition where he was pronounced dead.

No one is in custody at this time and it is still unclear what led to the shooting.

Neighbors said the man does live in the area but said they didn't hear any gunshots early this morning.

So far, the victim's name has not been released.
