Trezevant High Principal assaulted

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Five people have been detained following a fight at a local high school.

Police confirmed to WREG they were called to Trezevant High School Tuesday afternoon after a fight broke out.

A student said it all started earlier in the day when two girls began arguing at lunch. hey fought after school near the entrance to the building.

It was during that encounter that three others also became involved as well.

At some point a male student punched the principal.

The student was issued a juvenile summons.

The school issued the following statement:

Five students involved in an altercation this afternoon at Trezevant High School have been disciplined. While attempting to resolve the situation, the principal was inadvertently struck by one of the students involved. We have high expectations for our students regarding conduct and character, and this type of behavior is not tolerated in any of our schools.
