MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Like his students and staff, Shelby County School’s Superintendent Dorsey Hopson received his report card and is exceeding expectations.

Now in his fourth year, Hopson received outstanding reviews in five of six categories. Specifically, the School Board said Hopson did well when it comes to building community relations.

“As a board member, I feel like Dorsey is doing a great job and is great in our community,” said SCS Board Chairman Chris Caldwell. “The evaluation shows he is already exceeding expectations. Still, I’m confident he will continue to grow in the job and do what’s best for the children in our district.”

In addition to building community relations, Hopson was graded on staff and personnel relationship, facilities and finances, board relationships and vision and student achievement.

He exceeded expectations in 49 other sub-categories as well.

“I want to thank all of the board members for their continued partnership and confidence in me to lead this district,”  Hopson said.  “We face some tough decisions down the road but together we will help ensure all students within SCS have high quality schools that will help prepare them for a bright future.”
