MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man wanted for walking away from his work detail on President’s Island is still at large.

OC Jackson was working at the Sterno Factory when he walked away almost two weeks ago. Jackson told WREG’s Michael Quander by phone he had been feeling sick and depressed, and needed to get away.

He claimed to regret his decision, but by the time he realized what he had done, it was too late. He said he would be turning himself in on November 17th, but failed to do so.

The lead investigator at the Shelby County Department of Corrections told WREG they’ve made numerous attempts to bring him in, but they have not been successful. They are asking the public to remain on high alert.

Jackson was convicted of aggravated burglary in 2014 and was put on probation with time served.

According to court documents, Jackson violated probation three times and his three-year sentence was re-activated in October.
