Police: 5 y/o critical after being struck by car

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 5-year-old was rushed to the hospital after being hit by a car in front of an apartment complex on Winchester Road.

Officers said they received the call shortly after 5:30 p.m. from the 3400 block of West Briarpark Drive.

It was determined the child and two other boys were walking to the store when the child dashed out into the street and was hit by the car heading westbound.

The child is in extremely critical condition at this time.

Traffic along Winchester between Airways and Winbrook was blocked due to the accident.

The driver stayed on the scene. No charges will be filed in the case.
