Girl admits she lied about man with Trump hat ripping off her hijab

LAFAYETTE, La.  — A student at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will be charged after lying about a post-election attack.

The student told police two white men, one wearing a Donald Trump hat, took her wallet and her hijab the morning after Trump was elected the 45th president.

The 18-year-old Middle Eastern student also said the men yelled racial slurs at her, according to WGNO-TV.

The story made national headlines.
