BENICIA, Calif. — Two kittens found bound together with rubber bands were likely used a bait for dog fighting.

The kittens were found and dropped off at a pet food store.

Their legs had been bound so they could not fight back or injure the dogs.

One kitten, named Will, is recovering.

The other kitten, Grace, had to be put to sleep due to severe injuries.

An employee of the store warned people not to give animals away for free.

If you choose to advertise them online or in a newspaper, be sure to check out the potential adopter.

Police in Benicia are looking for the dog fighting ring responsible.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help cover the care of the kittens.
