MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Police said there are no obvious signs of foul play after a body was discovered lying face down in an East Memphis lake.

A fisherman said he found the person early Tuesday morning at the Madison Cypress Lakes Apartments off of Quince Road. Jesse Bransetter said he thought it was a bag in the water, but quickly discovered it was a body.

"I got hung up next to it. I reached in to get my lure out and realized it was a body."

He said he freaked out.

"Scared me. I called 911 immediately," he said.

Police and paramedics flooded the area searching for clues, questioning neighbors and working together to pull the body, which appeared to be that of a woman, out of the water.

How the person died is still unknown and police have still not released the person's name, age or sex.

The body was sent to the Medical Examiner's Office where the cause of death is expected to be determined.
