MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man suspected of raping a child is behind bars after months on the run.

Back in April, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office issued warrants for Cortez Rivers, 29, for rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery.

Investigators with the U.S. Marshals Task Force took on the case Sept. 26 and started searching for Rivers.

Wednesday, they tracked him to an apartment in the 2300 block of Dwight Road, where they found Rivers hiding in a closet.

Rivers was arrested and booked into Shelby County Jail.
