GREENVILLE, Miss. — A video is going viral that shows a Mississippi teacher dragging a student by her hair.

A second video, also posted to Facebook by Kesha Williams, shows the teacher hitting her in the head.

It happened at Greenville High School, Delta Daily News reported.

The station said the adult is a teacher, and Williams described the child as a special-needs student.

The Greenville Police Department and the Greenville Public School District are both investigating.

A GPSD representative said in a news conference with Delta Daily News the district is “shocked” and the behavior would not be tolerated.

The representative said what happened in the video was an isolated incident.

He said the district will take disciplinary action after its investigation is completed and cannot give any details until then.

Superintendent Dr. Leeson M. Taylor II would not comment on the teacher’s current status but said, “We will operate in a manner that’s conducive to maintaining a safe environment. We’re not going to have any disruptions to that environment, and whatever actions that we’ve taken has been in line with that.”
