TIPTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Two people are accused of shoplifting at a Wal-Mart, and the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office said they rammed a TCSO cruiser as they were trying to get away.

The shoplifting incident happened at the Wal-Mart on 201 Lanny Bridges Drive in Covington.

Officers with the Brighton Police Department, who helped TCSO in the pursuit, tried to stop the suspects as they were driving south on Highway 51.

The suspects didn’t stop, so TCSO said deputies put up “stop sticks” on Highway 51 near Munford.

TCSO said they still didn’t stop and rammed a cruiser as they continued on.

Deputies then used a vehicle pursuit intervention technique to finally bring the vehicle to a stop in Drummonds.

No one was hurt during the chase, according to TCSO.

The suspects are now in custody, and TCSO said there will be “an assortment of charges.”

Covington Police, Munford Police, Brighton Police and the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office are all investigating the case. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crashes.
