The man shot by SCSO deputies in July has died

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — A man shot by Shelby County Deputies has died.

The TBI identified the man as Edmond Otis Studdard.

WREG has learned two warrants were issued for the 46-year-old.

Two deputies are off the job with pay as the TBI investigates.

The early July shooting.

According to investigators, Shelby County Deputies were responding to a call saying a person was driving erratically.

The person was reportedly involved in a hit and run incident near Macon Road and Big Orange Road.

While on the scene, the four deputies came across Studdard who was walking down the street with a knife in his hand.

It’s unclear what happened next, but two Deputies opened fire, striking the man.

He was rushed to the hospital where he is being treated.

No Deputies were injured.
