Father of 11-year-old Tennessee girl charged with her death

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. — An 11-year-old Tennessee girl was shot and killed Monday.

But overnight, her father was charged with her death.

Authorities told WKRN the girl got off her school bus at her Hendersonville home.

When she went inside, she told her father she had been shot.

Timothy Betts is charged with reckless homicide, tampering with evidence, false reporting, and being a felon in possession of a handgun according to WSMV-TV.

Betts took his daughter to TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center.

She was then flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where she died less than two hours later, WKRN reports.
