Violent purse snatching caught on camera at Oak Court Mall

MEMPHIS, Tenn. --A violent purse snatching at the Oak Court Mall was caught on camera Monday.

According to police, the 95-year-old woman was walking into the mall when the suspect grabbed her purse.

She was not able to react quick enough.

She was knocked to the ground and dragged six to seven feet.

The suspect jumped into a late model Chevrolet HHR possibly black or dark green in color and fled the scene.

The victim was rushed to Methodist Germantown with several injuries.

Thankfully she was listed as being in non-critical condition.

The Oak Court Mall released a statement saying, "The safety and well-being of our shoppers is our top priority," the said in a prepared statement. "Oak Court Mall does not tolerate criminal activity or violence of any kind and is working closely with the Memphis Police Department as they investigate this incident. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Memphis Police Department.”

The suspect is described as a black male, 25-30 years of age, 6’1” to 6’2, slim build, medium to dark skin complexion, long pony tail hair, wearing blue jeans skinny jeans and tan multi-colored shirt.
