Infant dies after being left in hot car in Grenada, Mississippi

GRENADA, Miss. -- An eight-month-old baby died Thursday after being left in a hot car in Grenada according to a police report.

Grenada Deputy Coroner Jo Morman to the paper the child was left in her father's car in front of 333 Restaurant in Grenada while he worked inside.

Joshua Lee Blunt, 25, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Shania Rihanna Caradine.

The high that days was around 82 degrees, which means temperatures in the car could easily exceed 100 degrees.

Blunt told police he forgot the child was in the car.

Blunt is currently being held in the Grenada County Jail on a $250,000 dollar bond.

This is the second hot car death in Mississippi this year.
