Flight makes emergency landing in Memphis after smoke detected on board

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An American Airlines flight from Nashville to Dallas made an emergency landing in Memphis Saturday afternoon.

The stop was made after smoke was smelled in the airplane’s cabin, according to American Airlines.

The plane made a safe landing “without incident” at 12:45 p.m., according to the Memphis International Airport.

The airline said maintenance checked on the issue and the flight was cleared to continue on to Dallas.

There were 141 passengers and five crew members on board the plane, flight 2398, American Airlines said.
