Sheriff’s Department identifies man who fell in water at Hollywood Casino

TUNICA, Miss. — The man who tragically died after falling into the water at a casino in Tunica over the weekend has been identified.

Bob Murray, 48, of Birmingham was visiting Hollywood Casino on Sunday evening when the incident occurred.

The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office, the Fire Department and the Volunteer Fire Department all actively searched the water for Murray.

He was found less than two hours later and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities have not released a cause of death as Murray’s body is being sent to the Mississippi Crime Lab for an autopsy.

WREG reached out to Hollywood Casino who sent us the following statement:

“Out of respect for the family’s privacy, and because this matter is the subject of an ongoing law enforcement investigation, we will not be providing any additional details or comment other than to express our deepest condolences and sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased. Any further requests for information should be directed to the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office.”
