MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Police are searching for a man they say took part in a bank robbery attempt in Raleigh.

Brinks employees were taking out some of the deposited cash at the Regions Bank at Austin Peay and Yale and putting in cartridges of new bills when a man with a gun walked up and took some of the money.

The men, trained to protect the cash, immediately took action.

One of the workers tried to speed away as the other ran back to the armored car.

Major Angela Jenkins with Memphis Police said they ended up hitting the alleged robbers' pick up truck and running over one of the men.

The other got away in the truck but it was found about a mile away, the driver door wide open.

Police told WREG the truck was stolen.

“This is a famous dead end in Raleigh. We've had stolen cars out here, several things are here,” said Kathy Tulip, who lives in the area.

Neighbors believe the man ran off into a heavily wooded area which they said dumps out in several spots.

It's been used by robbers before as a good getaway.

Police called in a Special Task Force that works with the FBI to take over the investigation and question the man hit by the armored car.
