WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — Police in West Memphis worked quickly Saturday to find the suspects who stole two fire and rescue boats and a trailer with rescue equipment.

The boats were used by the Norman (Okla.) Fire Department.

They were stolen overnight from the Days Inn on Ingram Boulevard in West Memphis, police said.

A Memphis Police officer saw a U-Haul truck with the boats, which he recognized from a news broadcast.

The two suspects were arrested after a short foot chase, and the officers confirmed the boats were indeed the ones stolen.

Police recovered the property around noon Saturday and took several suspects into custody.

Ned Stanley, 45, who also had several warrants out for his arrest, was charged with evading arrest and theft of property $10,000-$60,000.

Eunice Wells, 43, was charged with theft of property $10,000-$60,000.
